Inspired by her love of Mexican folk art, cats, and children’s picture books, Nicky’s colorful paintings often include a generous dose of humor—because she firmly believes that laughter really is the best medicine. She enjoys working in a wide range of mediums, from acrylic markers to collage to laser-cut forms, but her pieces are always whimsical, vibrant, and full of character.

The Catcus, inspired by the 'La Lotería' Mexican bingo.
Originally from the UK, Nicky is a proud cat lady now living by the sea in Norwalk, CT. As a child, her free time was spent catching (and releasing!) crabs at the beach, poring over the illustrations in books like Richard Scarry’s Busy Town, and wishing for a cat of her very own. Today she still loves collecting treasures along the shore, creates her own illustrations, and is happily outnumbered by her five cats, who provide her with endless ideas for her artwork.

Jones was always a fan of assisting with my paintings!
Nicky’s work has been shown in exhibitions ranging from Barcelona, Spain to venues closer to home in Norwalk, Ridgefield and Stamford in CT, as well as Brooklyn, New Rochelle and Sharon Springs in NY. Wanting to make her art accessible to more people, she began in 2018 to translate her vibrant pieces into accessories and home décor items—and quickly discovered how much she enjoys dreaming up new products and new ways to express her art.

When she’s not painting, you’ll most likely find her playing fetch with her cat Mac, sipping tea with her chickens, or climbing rocks indoors and out.
